Claudia Miranda is our second BRC Global Standards Professional in Latin America and is a Quality Assurance Manager for Comercializadora Econut. We had an opportunity to find out more about her role and what the Professional qualification means to her.
What is your current role?
I am a Quality Assurance Manager for Comercializadora Econut, a company that processes walnuts in Santiago of Chile.
Why did you join the BRC Global Standards Professional Programme?
I signed up to the programme because I wanted to enhance my personal knowledge which can be applied in the company. For Econut, it is great to have this recognised in order to show customers our commitment with product safety, quality and legality.
What value do you personally feel the BRC Global Standards Professional certification brings to you?
The programme gives me more confidence to guide my team to correctly implement the standard. I also feel proud for being the second Latino American to become a BRC Global Standards Professionals.
How has/will the recognition programme impacted your work?
I have more confidence in my knowledge and in the correct implementation of the standard. The programme has given me the correct understanding of Risk assessment, Validation and Verification and Internal auditor.
Would you have completed the component courses anyway?
I completed some courses in the past 3 years, but this additional course has given me more skill for my work.
How did you get to your current role?
I started my career in Quality Control for fresh fruit in USA 2007 ( Miami, Philadelphia and L.A for almost 7 years) where I implemented good practice and first came in contact with inocuity. Secondly, I worked in Chile throughout 2015 in the Food sector as a coordinator and auditor, in that time I learned about BRC Global Standards. Since 2017 I am currently a Quality Assurance manager for Comercializadora Econut.
What is your educational background?
My educational Background is Engineering Agronomist and I have completed several course throughout the past 3 years including HACCP, BRC Global Standards, IFS from Intertek and NSF.
What are your career ambitions/aims?
My ambition is to continue growing in this area and give customers the confidence to know that they are working with the best in the business and assurance that our products are safe.
