Gwynne Sitsker is our latest BRC Global Standards Professional in Canada and is a Quality Manager at Embassy Ingredients Ltd. We had an opportunity to find out more about her role and what the Professional qualification means to her.


What is your current role?

Quality Manager at Embassy Ingredients Ltd.

Why did you join the BRC Global Standards Professional Programme?

I believe in continuous and ongoing learning and the program offered the opportunity to ensure my skill set is aligned with the BRC Global Standards.

What value do you personally feel the BRC Global Standards Professional certification brings to you?

Personally, I feel the Certification has allowed me strengthen my knowledge and understanding of food safety in alignment with the BRC Global Standards.

How has/will the recognition programme impacted your work?

The Program has allowed me to gain a stronger understanding of the BRC Global Standard. I have been able to bring back information and knowledge about the standard to our Team here at Embassy Ingredients which has allowed us to strengthen our food safety program.

Would you have completed the component courses anyway?

Yes, as I mentioned I’m a strong believer of ongoing learning. I find the BRC Global Standards courses very beneficial and will consider completing the few courses not yet taken.

How did you get to your current role?

I have worked in Food Safety for over 10 years. I was very lucky to join the team at Embassy Ingredients 2 years ago as their Quality Assurance Specialist and was promoted to Quality Manager earlier this year.

What is your educational background?

I studied Biological Chemistry at Guelph University.

What are your career ambitions/aims?

#1 – To make food safe.
