We are very pleased to announce our most recent BRC Global Standards Professional Kingsley Akhigbe.

Our global network of BRC Global Standards Professional members are growing day by day ensuring our customers are well-equipped to manage any Standard in their business – including those benchmarked by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) – and able to implement or manage product safety systems. Completion of BRC Global Standards Professional takes commitment and time and is therefore a real badge of achievement – well done Kingsley.

Why BRC Global Standards Professional?

I signed up for BRC Global Standards Professional because as an ASQ-CQA, I strongly believe that there should be a system of evaluating the competence level of individuals who develop and implement BRC Global Food Safety Standards in their respective sites. I also believe that becoming a BRC Global Standards Professional will enhance my job performance at Florentina Foods Ltd and any other related future endeavors.

How has the recognition programme impacted your work?

The combination of courses that qualified me to become a BRC Standard Professionals has really helped me to better understand the concepts of Root Cause Analyses, Validation and Verification, etc.

This recognition by a world class organization (BRC) would help me in my next career move, either as a Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance, or an independent Food Safety & Quality Systems Consultant/Auditor.

Tell us a little about your career to date.

I have been a senior QA Manager for over ten years now. In March 2008, I became the Corporate Compliance & Regulatory Affairs Manager for ACE Bakery Ltd, then owned by Glencoe, a Private Equity Firm based in Chicago, USA. When the company was taken over by my former employer, George Weston Ltd, I moved to La Rocca Creative Cakes as the Corporate Compliance & regulatory Affairs Manager, where I upgraded their QMS and led them through their first successful BRC audit, with AA rating.

How do you see your career progressing?

My next career ambition is to become a Director of Food Safety & Quality Assurance. I would like to go into private practice, after I retire.
