Miluska Vidal, a GFSI Auditor for Federico Villarreal National University is our latest BRCGS Professional. We had a great opportunity to ask Miluska about her BRCGS Professional journey and how the programme has impacted her working life.

What is your current role?

I am a GFSI Auditor (BRCGS, FSSC 22000 Schemes) and a Teacher in the Food Safety Management Specialization for Federico Villarreal National University.


Why did you join the BRCGS Programme?

Continuous improvement is very important to me and this programme provides me with additional skills like Food Safety.

What value do you personally feel the BRCGS Professional certification brings to you?

The certification recognizes my skills in Food Safety Management and will increase my network with other colleagues in different places within the food industry.

How the recognition programme has/will impacted your work?

BRCGS Professional helps me to be more confident in my role as an auditor and Teacher in the university.

Would you have completed the component courses anyway?

Definitely! I took: Global Standard for Food Safety Issue 7 to 8 Conversion for Auditors, Agents & Brokers Issue 2 Understanding the Requirements for Auditors, HACCP, and Internal Auditor, Root cause Analysis, Validation and Verification.

BRCGS Professional training provided a more cohesive approach to the training process and allowed the continuous improvement.

How did you get to your current role?

I began in quality and safety management 12 years ago working with a fresh fruit , frozen and fresh fishery products , vegetables and fruit canned , fruits pulps , beverages and confitery factories , retail, stores and distributions companies, learning the all facets of safety food management , quality and manufacturing. I am very happy to have experiences working with different kind of food categories. My current role is certified food companies which covers safety, quality, legality and consumer protection.


What is your educational background?

I have a degree in Food Industry Engineer and a Masters in Quality and Safety Management.

I worked in Quality and Technical roles within the Food Industry for 8 years. I have undertaken Third Party Food Safety Audits for 4 years and I have been a teacher in Quality and Safety Food Management Specialization since 2015. I enjoy doing my job.


What are your career ambitions/aims?

I have enjoyed the experience and challenge of the GFSI audits, foods and factories that I have worked with over the last 12 years.

My aim is to share my knowledge and experiences within the Food Industry and providing food safety in the world.
