With the input and support of brands, retailers, manufactures and the certification sector, we are upgrading our Storage and Distribution standard. We are delighted to invite you to make comments on the final draft. The consultation period is open until May 31st 2020.

The new standard has identified opportunities for further development and to reflect market developments such as digital literacy and efficient supply chain solutions. As a result, two key areas - Cross Docking & E-commerce will be Additional Voluntary Modules to provide a framework and criteria for companies to mitigate any additional risk to the supply chain from activities bespoke to these sectors. The new standard, which will be GFSI benchmarked, will also include requirements for product safety and quality culture, confidential reporting, allergen management, increased emphasis on continual improvement through root cause analysis and internal audits, and a single, newly created, section on open product handling requirements.

With year on year growth of approximately 18%, and 2,204 sites benefiting from their certification, the standard is becoming a recognised requirement for Brands and Retailers.

The public consultation will close at the end of this month, with publication expected to be in November 2020, and audits to be begin in May 2021.
