Ian focuses on working with companies that want to achieve or maintain BRCGS accreditation to the Food, Agents and Brokers, and Storage and Distribution Standards.

Ian is an experienced and well-qualified food safety professional with 17 years’ experience as a Technical Manager working for some of Europe’s largest food manufacturing companies; and since 2003, as a food safety consultant and auditor. Ian balances a workload of around 20% food safety inspections (audits) with 80% BRCGS consultancy work; the ideal balance to give clients working with the BRCGS Standards scheme the best possible support.

Ian worked as a BRCGS third party auditor for 7 years and has Global Standards competency against most sectors. He also audits on behalf of large UK retailers and for a portfolio of international foodservice companies.

Ian is kept fully up to date with BRCGS developments, which includes passing BRCGS auditor courses for the Food, Agents and Brokers, and Storage and Distribution Standards, and full access to the BRCGS Participate information portal.

Ian has provided support for many businesses that are working towards BRCGS accreditation. This has taken many forms, including a GAP analysis against the Standard; independent internal auditing; or a turnkey approach to design, implementation, mentoring and maintenance of a Food Safety and Quality Management System which meet BRCGS requirements.

Other relevant training courses undertaken by Ian include Level 4 Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) for Management; Campden BRI Practical Food Law; Campden BRI Food and Drink Labelling; and a Food Information Regulations Labelling Course.

Ian is a Fellow of the Institute of Food Science and Technology (IFST); a member of the IFST Register of Professional Food Auditors and Mentors; a qualified ISO 9001 Lead Assessor; and a Director of Food Fix, a food safety consultancy.
