Meet Anzil

About you

I am a Quality Assurance, Food Safety, and Health & Safety professional with over 14 years of experience ensuring compliance, building strong food safety cultures, and leading teams to uphold the highest standards in quality and safety. My career spans multiple countries, including India, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Qatar, and the United Kingdom, across industries such as food manufacturing, food services, and FMCG.

In my most recent role as Technical Manager at Westcountry Spice Ltd, UK, I led food safety initiatives, audit readiness, and continuous improvement programmes. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Food Technology and several professional certifications, including BRCGS Lead Auditor, HACCP Level 4, Food Safety Level 4, and IRCA/CQI-approved Lead Auditor for ISO 22000, ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001. I am also a Practitioner Member of the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI), hold a NEBOSH Level 6 International Diploma, and am a CertIOSH member of IOSH.

Outside of work, I am passionate about cricket, actively playing in ECB local leagues, and I enjoy cooking. Experimenting with diverse cuisines is one of my favourite pastimes.

Why did you join the BRCGS Professional Programme?

I joined the BRCGS Professional Programme to deepen my expertise in food and product safety management, gain international recognition, and enhance my ability to protect brands and consumers through robust food safety practices. This programme supports my career aspirations by creating new professional opportunities in the UK. It aligns with my goal of maintaining and improving audit readiness, ensuring compliance, and driving operational excellence in the roles I take on.

What value do you personally feel the BRCGS Professional certification brings to you?

The certification has strengthened my professional identity within the food safety community while providing me access to the latest industry knowledge and improving my employability. It has also connected me with like-minded professionals, enabling me to share insights and stay updated on evolving industry trends.

How has the training helped improve operations at your site/company?

The training has reinforced best practices in food safety management, improved our audit performance, and strengthened compliance with both BRCGS and ISO standards. It has fostered a more proactive food safety culture, reduced non-conformances, and enhanced our credibility with customers and regulatory bodies.

What did you most enjoy about the training?

I particularly appreciated the interactive learning approach, the expertise of the trainers, and the practical discussions. The way the training simplified complex concepts made it easy to implement changes that have significantly improved site operations.

What are you most looking forward to within the Professional community?

I am excited to be part of a network of food safety professionals, attend industry events, and exchange knowledge with other experts. I look forward to continuous learning opportunities such as Microlearning modules, webinars and mentoring programmes, which will help me stay ahead of industry trends.

How do you plan to keep your skills up to date?

I plan to stay actively engaged with the BRCGS Professional Programme through additional training, attending industry conferences, and participating in webinars. I also intend to pursue third-party industry qualifications and mentor aspiring food safety professionals to share my knowledge and experience.

What are your career ambitions/aims?

My ambition is to lead technical teams, drive food safety excellence across the industry, and contribute to developing next-generation food safety systems. I also hope to implement the BRCGS Professional Programme in other areas of my organisation and aim to be recognised as an industry leader in food safety and quality assurance.
