Meet Gabriela
About you
My name is Gabriela Galarza Ortega, I am from Ecuador. I am a Quality Systems and Entrepreneurship Engineer in Guayaquil, with a Master’s degree in Integrated Management Systems from Spain. I am a coordinator in Food Safety and Quality Management Systems, which includes managing certifications like BRCGS.
Why did you join the BRCGS Professional Programme?
It was a personal challenge to expand all my knowledge and experience in food management systems with this international training.
What value do you personally feel the BRCGS Professional certification brings to you?
It provides our clients with the assurance and confidence that our team includes personnel with skills gained through international training, allowing us to deliver safe products supported by a prestigious standard.
How has the training helped improve operations at your site/company?
It helps us engage the entire company in the food safety management system, as the knowledge gained is shared with all staff to create awareness and commitment from everyone.
What did you most enjoy about the training?
I enjoyed learning from people with extensive expertise and experience—qualified instructors who helped clarify all my questions.
What are you most looking forward to within the Professional community?
Continuing to learn, updating my knowledge, and getting more involved with the Standard to be able to lead the Food Safety Management System with solid knowledge.
How do you plan to keep your skills up to date?
Now that I am part of the PPP program, I will have access to all mentoring sessions, training, talks, and tasks that will allow me to maintain my professional certification.
What are your career ambitions/aims?
To train and support the food safety culture of companies in Ecuador dedicated to the food sector, working alongside them to achieve international recognition for our exported products for their origin, quality, and safety.
