Meet Jackie

About you

My name is Jackie Koen. I am currently employed at Pidelta (PTY) Ltd at the pecan nut processing factory. In my daily duties I cover product safety, OHS, data capturing, quality controls and everything else that is related to admin and pecan nut processing. We have a small staff compliment, so I fill a lot of the positions that are required.

I came from a security background, so Product Safety Management was very new to me. I have been doing this line of work since 2018 and have achieved and learned a lot. I am an outdoors person when I get the chance but love life as it comes.

Why did you join the BRCGS Professional Programme?

I joined the BRCGS Professional Programme to gain a better knowledge of Product Safety Management not only locally but internationally.

What value do you personally feel the BRCGS Professional certification brings to you?

I feel that I have added value not only to myself but my employers by achieving this BRCGS Professional certification because I have enhanced my knowledge of Product Safety Management. I hope to continue to enhance my knowledge even more going forward.

How has the training helped improve operations at your site/company?

The training I have received has enormously improved operations within our site as through the training I have been able to share a healthier product safety culture with my co-workers, which not only helps at the workplace but everywhere we go.

What did you most enjoy about the training?

I have to say that I most enjoyed interacting with people from other areas of the country and from different work areas. Also, interacting on different scenarios.

What are you most looking forward to within the Professional community?

I look forward to being exposed to other like-minded professionals and to be able to share ideas and issues.

How do you plan to keep your skills up to date?

I intend to never give up on training. I enjoy studying and will be part of the BRCGS Professional PPP system, as well as enrolling for any further courses and webinars available.

What are your career ambitions/aims?

It is my aim to one day become the best Product Safety Manager I can be, and to be able to pass on my knowledge and experience to others that want to work hard and achieve their goals. Also, to lead a team of technical professionals.
