Meet Kshitij Hukumchandra

About you

I am currently working as a Senior Quality Assurance Manager at Mewar Polytex Group in Udaipur, India, where I lead group-level quality strategy across multiple manufacturing units. With over 11 years of experience in technical textile manufacturing, my journey has evolved from hands-on roles in maintenance and production to leading quality, compliance, and certification functions at a strategic level.

In my current role, I oversee quality systems across large-scale operations exceeding 5,000 MT production, driving standardisation, audit readiness, and continuous improvement. I have been closely involved in implementing and maintaining global certifications such as ISO, FSSC 22000, and BRCGS Packaging Materials, while fostering a strong customer-focused and zero-defect quality culture.

I hold a Master’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management and a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Outside of work, I am passionate about continuous learning, research, and sustainability, and I have contributed to publications in green supply chain management. I also enjoy staying engaged with industry trends and professional development activities.

Why did you join the BRCGS Professional Programme?

I joined the BRCGS Professional Programme to further strengthen brand protection within my organisation and to deepen my understanding of product safety management systems. Given my responsibility for managing international certifications and customer expectations, I wanted to align my expertise with globally recognised best practices.

What value do you personally feel the BRCGS Professional certification brings to you?

The BRCGS Professional certification has enhanced my credibility as a quality and product safety leader. It has strengthened my technical knowledge and provided me with a structured, globally benchmarked approach to product safety management. Additionally, being part of a wider professional community has broadened my perspective and increased my visibility in the industry.

How has the training helped improve operations at your site/company?

The training has had a direct impact on improving product safety and system robustness across our operations. It has enabled a more structured and proactive approach to risk management, documentation, and compliance. As a result, we have seen improvements in audit outcomes, stronger customer confidence, and enhanced consistency across multiple manufacturing units.

What did you most enjoy about the training?

I particularly enjoyed the practical and interactive nature of the training. The trainer’s expertise, combined with real-world examples and engaging delivery methods, made the sessions highly relevant and immediately applicable to my role.

What are you most looking forward to within the Professional community?

I am looking forward to engaging with a global network of professionals, sharing best practices, and learning from diverse industry experiences. The opportunity to participate in networking events and access exclusive resources such as microlearning modules is especially valuable.

How do you plan to keep your skills up to date?

I plan to actively maintain my professional development through the BRCGS Professional Programme by engaging in continuous learning activities. This includes attending advanced training, mentoring team members, participating in industry conferences, and leveraging e-learning and webinars. I also aim to pursue further qualifications to stay aligned with evolving global standards.

What are your career ambitions/aims?

My ambition is to elevate quality and food safety standards within my organisation by strategically aligning the Quality function with business profitability, ensuring it plays a central role in driving sustainable growth. I aim to build and lead high-performing teams while expanding the implementation of globally recognised standards such as BRCGS across the business.

At the same time, I am keen to contribute my knowledge and experience to India’s growing manufacturing landscape, where there is immense scope to strengthen quality and food safety frameworks as the sector continues to evolve.

Over the long term, I aspire to be recognised as an expert in food safety, with in-depth knowledge of regulations and industry standards, and to contribute meaningfully to advancing best practices. I am equally committed to being a hands-on mentor, nurturing talent and enabling my teams to grow into capable professionals who can carry forward a strong culture of quality.
