Meet Roberto
About you
I work as a QA Supplier Auditor for OSI Food Solutions Spain. Previously, I spent 16 years in the UK working as Official Veterinarian, Auditor and Area Manager for the Food Stands Agency. When not auditing you can find me playing squash, photographing things that move and don't move, or simply enjoying movies and conversation with beer and friends. I am a husband and father of a beautiful five year old child.
Why did you join the BRCGS Professional Programme?
I wanted to reinforce and update my knowledge of product safety management, improve my root cause analysis and appropriate design of corrective actions, something I manage with our suppliers on a continuous basis. The international recognitions of the programme is a plus, too!
What value do you personally feel the BRCGS Professional certification brings to you?
It is nice to belong to a large community of professionals from different backgrounds and countries in the world, who can support each other and learn from each other.
How has the training helped improve operations at your site/company?
I believe our suppliers are starting to understand better how to analyse the root cause and apply effective corrective actions. This impacts positively on the safety of the raw materials provided and the sustainability of the controls implemented at the origin.
What did you most enjoy about the training?
The interaction between the delegates, the broad experience and the good teaching techniques of the trainers.
What are you most looking forward to within the Professional community?
I think that sharing knowledge is very attractive. Also, finding answers to common problems, getting updates and short trainings on the current topics will be very interesting too.
How do you plan to keep your skills up to date?
The BRCGS PPP system allows for a broad variety of activities, such as more training, mentoring (great idea!), attending conferences and events, E-Learning and webinars.
What are your career ambitions/aims?
I would like to be a well-recognised food safety professional in my area, capable of seeing the big picture and the broad implications, with sound knowledge and be able to provide simple answers to complex situations.
