Meet Mario
Mario Sangiorgi is a Senior Food Safety Specialist, Lead Assessor for the Italian Accreditation Body (Accredia), and experienced Lead Auditor with over thirty years of professional experience in quality management systems, environmental compliance, and food safety standards. Holding a degree in Biological Sciences from the University of Bologna and a background as a registered Agronomist, he combines strong scientific technical expertise with extensive hands-on operational leadership.
Throughout his career, Mario has held key executive roles within the food manufacturing sector, including Establishment Manager and Quality Assurance Manager, where he successfully directed plant operations, production planning, and quality control systems. Since 2010, he has worked as an independent consultant, Lead Auditor, and Lead Assessor, collaborating with Accredia and prestigious international certification bodies to conduct assessments and second and third-party audits across major standards such as BRCGS, IFS, GlobalGAP, ISO 9001, and ISO 14001.
In addition to his auditing and assessment activities, Mario is a recognized international expert in food safety training and US FDA regulatory compliance. As an FSPCA Lead Instructor for PCQI, FSVP, and Intentional Adulteration, as well as a PSA Lead Trainer, he regularly supports companies in aligning with global trade requirements. His dedication to high-quality education earned him the BRCGS Trainer of the Year award in 2023, along with recognition as one of the Top 10 FSPCA Instructors globally for two consecutive years in 2023 and 2024. Driven by passion and a strong belief in teamwork, Mario is dedicated to fostering continuous improvement and operational excellence across the entire food supply chain.
