Nena Velickovic helps food businesses develop technically sound food safety and quality systems that work in daily operations. She combines deep technical knowledge with exceptional practicality, taking time to understand each client’s products, processes, people and risks. Founder and Principal Consultant of NV Consulting in Toronto, Canada, since 2010, Nena brings nearly 30 years of experience in food manufacturing, microbiology, product development and retail quality assurance. Her background in senior quality assurance roles at Loblaw Companies Limited gives her a detailed understanding of retailer expectations, supplier approval and private label development.

A BRCGS Certified Consultant since 2015, Nena is certified for 16 of the 17 BRCGS food categories, with alcoholic beverages the sole exclusion. Her work includes food safety and quality management system development, HACCP, gap assessments, internal and supplier audits, risk assessment, corrective action and preparation for certification audits. She works alongside management and site teams, combining technical guidance with practical coaching so they can take ownership of their programs and maintain them as the business evolves.

Nena tailors examples in every session to the client and their industry, helping delegates connect complex concepts to everyday work. She uses familiar situations to explain technical subjects, then guides participants in examining workplace practices, understanding risks and exploring solutions. She adapts her delivery to the audience through discussion, drawing, movement and shared examples.
