Consumer Products (Issue 5) Standard

This standard sets out the requirements for the manufacture and supply of non-food consumer products. The products may be retailer branded (private label), branded or unbranded for use by other organisations.

The requirements are intended to apply to:
• prior operations (e.g. manufacture of products/materials and components used for assembly)
• post operations e.g. assembly of components into finished consumer products and the collation of multi-component finished products e.g. gift packs
• single use disposable products for food service.

The standard is for non-food, manufactured products placed on the consumer market - in other words, supplied, sold or given to consumers. It may also be used by companies producing materials and components for consumer products. Both iterations of Issue 4 of the Consumer Products standard have become one version that covers all consumer products and for Issue 5, there is only one level of achievement.

All suppliers undergoing a BRCGS audit to Consumer Products, Issue 5 must have an official copy of this document.
