We are excited to publish the new SALSA to START! Transition tool.


Developed in collaboration with SALSA, this transition tool will support businesses that are currently certified to the SALSA Food & Drink Production Standard (Issue 6) and would like to transition to certification for the BRCGS START! programme.

The outcome of a comprehensive gap analysis conducted between the two standards, this tool can be used by sites as self-assessment to determine the level of conformity of their operations with the BRCGS START! Standard. This will enable them to identify areas of non-conformity and be aware of any challenges which may affect their ability to progress from a SALSA to a START! certification audit.

This guidance document provides a stepping stone to gain START! Intermediate level certification, which is designed to recognise and encourage the development of food safety systems in small sites or where food safety management systems are immature.
