Australia & New Zealand: Strengthening Food Safety and Supply Chain Engagement
BRCGS has had a strong period of engagement across Australia and New Zealand, with recent activities reinforcing our role as a trusted partner in food safety, supply chain assurance, and industry capability building.
In Sydney, we attended the International Fresh Produce Safety Symposium, a two-day event focused on translating food safety science into practical action for produce operations. Mike Wilson’s presentation on global insights into emerging and recurring food safety risks was very well received, prompting valuable discussion on how third-party audits can continue to evolve. The event also strengthened relationships with Category 5 sites and provided an important opportunity to share global risk intelligence with the fresh produce sector.
Our team also attended FoodPro, Australia’s leading triennial food processing and manufacturing trade exhibition. The event provided an efficient platform to connect with certification bodies, consultants, laboratories, packaging suppliers, ingredient manufacturers, and equipment providers. It also allowed us to identify instances of outdated or unauthorised BRCGS logo use, which will be reviewed through the appropriate integrity channels.
At the AIFST 2026 Convention in Melbourne, BRCGS had a prominent presence as a Silver Sponsor. Mike delivered the Day 2 Food Safety Keynote and participated in the closing collaboration panel, while Amanda Evans-Lara contributed to an important discussion on precautionary allergen labelling and consumer confidence. This visibility helped strengthen BRCGS’s profile and authority across the region.
Finally, the inaugural BRCGS Express Live event in Melbourne demonstrated strong demand for practical, in-person technical engagement. Hosted with Mettler-Toledo and Intertek SAI Global, the sponsor-funded session attracted strong industry interest and positive feedback, while opening the door to future collaborative events across Australia and New Zealand.
