Head of ProgrammesAngela joined the company in 2021 and is responsible for all 10 BRCGS Standards. She has over 30 years experience in technical, quality assurance and safety roles in both food and non-food sectors. She previously worked for Whitbread, Woolworths, Mothercare, Wessanen and Bidfood managing global supply chain assurance up to £2billion in sales.

John Figgins
Senior Technical ManagerJohn has over 35 years’ experience in food safety, authenticity, quality and legality, covering everything from laboratory testing to standards writing, and from auditing to allergen management. His previous roles include Product Safety Manager for Sainsbury’s Supermarkets Ltd, where he was responsible for the prevention of food contaminants, procedures to ensure the authenticity of products, allergen policy and management of allergens within the supply chain. John has also been a Standard Manager at BRCGS responsible for the Food Safety and Agents & Brokers Global Standards.

Sam Clegg
Quality ManagerSam joined BRCGS in 2024 bringing with him a varied skillset built mainly in the Aquaculture industry in certification, quality and sustainability. Sam has been fortunate enough to work in food production and processing within the seafood industry in Scotland, as well as in third-party and BRCGS compliance within a certification body. Prior to joining BRCGS, Sam moved up the compliance chain to take a role at Aquaculture Stewardship Council. Sam’s focus at BRCGS is to support the wider business in modernising systems and championing high standards.

She has 15 years of experience in learning and development across diverse roles ranging from training delivery and management, to strategic and commercial leadership. As Head of the Academy, Sara leads the strategic direction and implementation of training products and the BRCGS Professional programme, whilst managing an extensive network of training partners and consultants.
