Emma holds an honours degree in Food Product Management (Food Science with Business). She spent the first three years of her career as a Quality and Technical Manager in sites producing cooked meats, continental delicatessen products and ready meals.

Hosting the first BRCGS Standard for Food Safety pilot audit in 1998 inspired her to pursue a career in auditing. Emma joined EFSIS (now SAI Global) in 1998 and spent three years working as an auditor, conducting 2nd and 3rd party audits against a wide range of Standards (including the BRC Global Standard for Food Safety). It provided the opportunity to gain extensive experience across a wide range of industry sectors.

Emma has 17 years of certification body (CB) technical management experience, having worked for two of BRCGS Standards' top five CBs. She participates in BRCGS Standards' working groups, re-writing committees and CB co-operations groups as well as providing training services to the BRCGS Standards Academy.
