Andrew Clarke being presented the BRCGS CEO Award by Mark Proctor at Food Safety Americas 2019

BRCGS are pleased to announce their 2019 CEO Award was presented to Andrew Clarke, Senior Director, Quality Assurance – Control Brands at Loblaw Companies Limited, at their Food Safety Americas conference in Coronado Bay, California in May.

This award is in recognition of the commitment demonstrated by Andrew in expanding the reach of the BRCGS Standards and certification scheme throughout North America.

This year was the first time the award has been presented to an individual for their support of using the Standard to help the industry. Andrew has been a long-term supporter of the BRCGS programs and organization, wherever possible bringing the benefits of the BRCGS tools to organizations he represents.

Andrew Clarke, Senior Director, Quality Assurance – Control Brands at Loblaw Companies, said: 'I'm very honored and humbled to receive the BRCGS CEO Award and proud to see the progress with the BRCGS START! program in Latin America. As an actual user and specifier of the BRCGS Standards for many years, their continued advancement and evolution tackling industry challenges has been incredibly beneficial in supplier assurance programs I have managed, including my present role at Loblaws. I'm proud to continue to provide input as a member of the BRCGS International Advisory Board and look forward to seeing the continued progression with the BRCGS START! program as it guides businesses to improve their programs while contributing to raising food safety standards globally.'

The CEO Award was initiated by BRCGS' CEO, Mark Proctor, to recognize the most promising certification body partner that has driven extensive business growth. As BRCGS continues to expand, so do the awards and recognitions. This year the focus was still on driving business growth but, in this case, it was a deliberate recognition of an individual who has played a similar role.

Mark Proctor, CEO of BRCGS, said: 'The BRCGS Food Safety (Americas) Awards Program is committed to recognizing both individuals and corporations who strive for excellence in food safety standards. I'm delighted that Andrew Clarke was awarded the CEO Award at this year's conference. The award recognizes Andrew's excellent contribution as a member of our International Advisory Board for the Americas and his commitment to the BRCGS Standards. It also recognizes, while working at Subway, his instigation of the BRCGS START! LATAM project for Subway's 450 suppliers, with deployment of the first BRCGS START! audits in February this year.'
