This guideline aims to assist food manufacturers and provide good-practice guidance to help them manage product changeover effectively, but it does not specifically offer guidance on initial line start-up. Many of the controls discussed here are relevant for incorporation into line start-up procedures. However, a line start-up is likely to include additional activities, such as:

• sampling activities

• confirmation of process set-up (e.g. temperature checks)

• site glass breakage checks

• equipment start-up procedures.
