Who are BST and what do we do?
BST Detectable Products are the original pioneers of metal detectable plastics for the food industry. We were first established in 1985 by Brian S Teasdale, a former senior engineer at British Bakeries. Brian was the first engineer to address the issue of plastic contamination in food in this way, and it is with great pride that his initials are still represented by the ‘BST’ brand which is well known and respected in the food industry.
BST are best known for the BST DetectaPen Range. These metal detectable, x-ray visible, and antibacterial pens can be found in most food processing environments, preventing foreign body contamination across a variety of industries.
Many of our best-selling products are of our own design and are produced locally using our own injection moulds/tools. Other detectable products we distribute on behalf of other companies that are specialists in specific areas, such as PPE, safety knives and food grade lubrication. We keep granular compounds and sheet detectable plastic and rubber materials in stock, ready to be sent to any of our manufacturing partners for stock production or bespoke projects.
BST’s core strengths are our commitment to high quality products and materials, as well as our bespoke manufacturing capabilities. Our primary material, BST XDETECT® has benefited from years of refinement making it one of the most durable, colourful, and shatter resistant food safe detectable plastics available on the market.
Why do we need Detectable Products?
